Devona’s Wildlife Dream
Dreamer: Devona Van Der Merwe, 10, Rheumatic Heart Disease – East London
Devona’s dream was to camp with her family. We booked her and her mom together with her sisters into Areena Riverside Resort. The girls ran from room to room to try and figure out who will be sleeping in what bed. They enjoyed the animals that walked around there and they swam a lot. We had an amazing braai after they had settled in. The following day they got a chance to meet Abbey the Giraffe. This was quite the treat for them. They were overwhelmed by this amazing animal’s size at first but soon become brave enough to stand closer for me a nice picture. Devona enjoyed this experience so much and she even asked to be picked up so that she could touch Abbey.
