The vision the dream and the dentist’s chair.
That Owen Parnell was calm enough to dream whilst sitting in the dentist’s waiting room, must go down in history as one of man’s most remarkable feats. However, as the visionary behind The Reach For A Dream Foundation it is unlikely he will be remembered merely for his nerves of steel.

Vision

Sparked by an article about the Make a Wish Foundation in America, Owen was struck by the opportunity to establish a similar venture in South Africa. As a past president of the Randburg Rotary Club it seemed a worthy community activity for his club and the Reach For A dream project was born. It is appropriate that the idea for such an organisation should come to Owen Parnell amid the smell of chloroform and the whine of the dentist’s drill. For the purpose of The Foundation is to provide children with an escape from the routine and discomfort of long-term medical care associated with life-threatening illnesses.
